I’ve often thought of writing a book to chronicle my experiences in Scientology, which started at birth and ended with my eventual escape on January 24th 2005.

Breaking from Scientology is, by far, the hardest thing I have ever had to do, thus the name of this blog.

But where to begin?

Finding the time to sort through the confusion and trauma of it all has been a big challenge, one that became secondary to starting my life over from scratch with nothing but the clothes on my back and the husband I dearly love.

Not to mention I had a deep seated fear of what the ramifications would be of speaking out.

Even after my husband, Marc Headley, started posting as blownforgood in January 2006, I was supportive and respectful of his actions, and petrified.

The exact moment that changed was the day Scientology sent Child Services to our house. I remember that moment as if it’s frozen in time. To this day, I can remember the thoughts that ran through my head as I closed the front door of our house after our “visit” in April 2008.

My boys were 2 years old and 8 weeks old at the time.

The Child Services representative was extremely apologetic and told us that, by law, they were required to make a house visit because of an anonymous tip they’d received. He told us they’d looked into the claim and it was clearly false and invented, but that we needed to watch our backs since someone was obviously trying to make trouble for us.

And yes, I subsequently gave his contact info to the FBI. Maybe I could not find out who called and what was said, but that didn’t mean the information was not available to others to document Scientology’s bullying tactics.

It was at that exact moment that I realized just what an evil, deceptive, lying and bullying organization Scientology is and continues to be, and that my silence was only further empowering them to commit their crimes and destroy people’s lives.

With two young boys and a third baby on the way (due Feb 11th 2013) I will not get to writing my story any time soon, so I’ve decided to start posting it here.

It has been an incredibly empowering experience to stand up to these bullies and say no, to publicly state that I do not agree and that I will not be silent, and even more so, to see the amount of people that have joined forces to speak out about their experiences and expose Scientology for what it is to the mainstream public.

I hope this helps, and if nothing else, further contributes to exposing Scientology’s crimes and eventually putting an end to them.

I am forever thankful for the unprecedented support we have received recently in regards to the legal bills we were presented with by scientology lawyers. Within a matter of days, 90% of the daunting total of $42,582.06 has already been raised.

The messages of support we received have been incredible, heartwarming, and completely unexpected.

Thank you to the many people, from all corners of the world, who have helped us. I will continue to do my part.

With love, Claire Headley
